INFORCOM’s profile in China: consultancy & interim management

Introduction

After the US and Japan, China is the largest economy of the world (measured in gross domestic product) and passed Germany. In 2010, China will probably pass Japan and will be than the second largest economy. In 2015-2020 one expects that China will pass the US. Than the gap between the American and Chinese economy, 35% of the American economy (2009), will be closed. The IMF expects for whole 2010 a Chinese economy growth rate of 10,5% and for 2011 a growth rate of 9,5% (Oct. 2010 estimate). China is the fastest growing economy of the world and that remains for the coming years!

 

China is the `place to be, not only with regard to production, but also to market. Large Dutch companies, in order of number of people employed in China are TNT, Philips, NXP, Akzo Nobel, ING, Unilever, Fortis, DSM, Shell, Numico and Aegon. The top 11 Dutch companies have each 1,500 or more employees in China. A large number of small and middle class Dutch companies have already followed this example. Only in Shanghai and surroundings approximately 700 Dutch companies have founded. Still a larger number of Dutch companies work with Chinese distributors. A large number of Dutch trade missions leaves annually for China and other countries.

 

There are not only success stories; several Dutch companies have also left from China, for example Ahold. There are several Dutch companies which make still no profit in China and have wait long. There are also Dutch companies which (large) have problems with others partners and governments.
